I learned about stage management during my first year at UC Santa Barbara. Up until that point, I had only had my focus in performance, but when I worked on my first production backstage in the winter, I met two wonderful stage management students that inspired me to explore my interest further. From there, I took as many classes as I was able to about design and crew, which led to me stage managing my first show less than a year later. 

 

Since then, I've realized that have a variety of skills and life experience that make my place as a stage manager unique, such as my performance background, my training at the beginning being mainly through show experience, and my desire to constantly learn, improve, and collaborate with those around me.
